A large rectangular woven scarf in a black/grey check plaid plaid featuring natural, undyed wool. Woven using a semi-manual industrial dobby loom, each scarf will bear subtle differences in tone due to the natural variation in the wool's colour. Completed with hand twisted tassels and a light felted finish to balance loftiness with insulating density.
"Sheep's Black" is produced using wool from the darkest fleeces of Brenda Hsueh's flock at Black Sheep Farm. Typically a rare phenomenon, Hsueh has achieved an unusually high proportion of richly coloured wools in her flock through years of careful selective breeding. After shearing, the fleeces are processed and spun into a lofty, rustic multi-ply yarn at Wave Fibre Mill. Subtle variation in the surface of the yarn and the occasional inclusion of small pieces of hay are considered desirable artifacts of process, highlighting DLB's minimal, artisanal approach to production.
