Lot 303 Coverall Jacket Hand Drawn Sumi

An easy, wide-bodied coverall jacket cut from a high density cotton twill in a hand painted sumi grey. Features a classic narrow collar, square patch pockets at the waist, a buckled waist cinch, and engineer's style cuffs. Serving as an ode to industrial manufacturing, the silhouette is extremely reduced in its detailing, intended "more as a tool than a garment"; generous two-piece sleeves cut for movement create volume through the back and a slight forward stance. Constructed using durable, chain stitched, flat felled seams throughout for a time-honoured, hard wearing finish; engraved iron tack buttons throughout.

The hand painted sumi treatment is inspired by the works of Kamisoe, capturing the irregularity of each brushstroke over the fabric's surface. The interior remains undyed, producing a noted contrast that is enhanced over time as the fabric ages and the grey surface begins to fade. The uncoated iron hardware is intended to develop a rust patina over time, further enhancing the nuance of each individual garment.
