James Coward's signature, relaxed fit, cropped, button-front jacket cut from a crisp, high density, cotton/wash canvas in a persimmon dyed brown. Features a classic collar, tack buttons at the closure, dual entry pockets at the waist with top and side openings, and engineer's cuffs. Boxy proportions through the body offer a swung silhouette through the back while a subtle bagged effect at the elbow complements the easy fit with a sense of worn-in familiarity. Chain stitched, flat felled seams offer hard wearing ease where it is needed, producing a robust finish that is built to age with grace.
Persimmon (kakishibu) dyeing is among the most significant traditional Japanese dyeing techniques and produces rich, long lasting browns. With wear, the initially crisp surface of the cloth will soften and the colour will grow darker as it is exposed to sunlight. While kakishibu is a colour fast natural dye, some amount of colour transfer may occur on lighter coloured fabrics before the first washing, discretion is advised.
Due to garment dyeing methods, some shrinkage occurs during production, please refer to measurements when selecting sizes.
