A loose fitting, button-front jacket cut from an artisanaly woven cashmere/wool/blanket cloth with an irregular stripe in a soft warm muted dark brown. Features a classic collar, invisible-welt hand pockets with pocket bags cut from a soft slubby Garabou cotton, a clean finished yoke lined with Garabou cotton, a dropped back hem with split side seams, and a blanket stitched finishing detail at the cuffs. Easy proportions with dropped shoulders offer a soft, roomy silhouette that combines with the rich surface texture of the "Earth Wall" cloth to produce a comforting artisanal aura. Constructed with raw edges and stay stitched reinforcement through the body to encourage unique aging patterns, and flat felled seams through the sleeves to improve durability; buffalo horn buttons.
Cottle's Earth Wall cloth is inspired by the earthen wall at the entrance of their atelier, discovered by chance during their initial renovations of the space. Inspired by the rich patina of the wall, which has been standing for nearly 130 years, the irregular stripes are rendered in a blend of cashmere, wool, and organic cotton. Slubbed yarns and in house weaving produce a uniquely varied surface, achievable only with micro-scale production, and by nature bearing low reproducibility.
