Sono is a creative partnership between Stephanie Oberg and Simon Homes with a singular focus on sustainable production methods and supply chain transparency. Avoiding plastics and employing only organically produced natural fibres, each garment is thought to express a collaboration between all levels of the production process. Integrating this philosophy into their design process, the lifespan of each garment is considered on a timescale of years or decades, not seasons. Considering their relationship to production from the perspective of “handwork” as contrasted against “craft,” both Oberg and Homes begin from a starting point of deep reverence for the teams and workers that make their work possible.
