Studio Julien Peltier

Based in Vancouver, French-born Julien Peltier creates unique objects of organic simplicity. With an emphasis on environmental impact, each work is handcrafted using locally and ethically sourced wood and finished using natural materials. He finds inspiration in the brutalism and minimalist movements as well as traditional Japanese woodworking techniques including Shou-Sugi-Ban, which is a traditional technique, that preserves wood by charring it with fire. Natural occurring characteristics of wood such as cracks are embraced to react against an excess of perfection in modern furniture.
