A lightly oversized, boxy, button-front jacket cut from a heavy cotton sateen originally produced for use in blackout blinds, noted for the readiness with which it accepts colour from natural dyes. Features an oversized collar that can be worn rolled down, standing, or half buttoned, and patch pockets at the waist. Side seamless construction shifts the sleeve seam to the shoulder line, creating visual structure and free drape through the sides. Constructed using single needle, flat felled seams throughout for a long lasting, encased finish; cotton coated metal buttons throughout.
Naturally dyed to dark grey using logwood extract, a pH sensitive red liquid distilled from the tree's heartwood that can be tinted to a wide range of hues depending on what is added. Natural dyes are living dyes, they will fade and change with wear, washing, and exposure to sunlight.
