An alumni of the prestigious IFM, or Institut Français de la Mode, Hed Mayner's humble beginnings began in the village of Amuka in the north of Israel where he became an astute garment-maker at the age of 16. Today, Mayner is regarded as one of Tel Aviv's most promising men's designers with only three collections under his belt so far, but a strong, singular design language in tow. By toying with volumes and proportions, Mayner evokes something new; a different dimension to clothing that would otherwise be categorized as classic menswear or sportswear. The clothes are completely fine-tailored in Jerusalem by traditional factories, and are thus influenced largely by his own Hasidic roots. Mayner maintains a uniform reverence for his home country that is evident in the collection, while envisioning a brand with international reach.
