Chen Chen & Kai Williams is a Brooklyn-based furniture and object design studio known for their experimental products made using a wide variation of materials. Both Industrial Design graduates from Pratt Institute, Chen and Williams joined forces in 2011 after leaving their respective positions. Prior to their collaboration, Chen had worked as Display Director for Moss Bureau while Williams worked for artist Tom Sachs overseeing installations for Sachs’ major international exhibitions. Their work aims to put focus on the materials themselves by taking often seen materials out of their context. By using simple processes, they give the materials the freedom to create their own intricate forms, welcoming variations.
