Peter Shire is a Los Angeles based sculptor, furniture maker and ceramic maker. I stumbled upon his ceramics and pottery at Gravel & Gold in San Francisco a few weeks ago. What immediately caught my eye was a multicoloured coffee mug. I was fond of the colours but became more interested in the shape of the handle and the coaster-like bottom. As I was checking out, a cactus candelabra was brought to my attention. Nicolas Jaar is an American musician who is known for his organic electronic music. Earlier this year Jaar released his debut full-length album entitled Space Is Only Noise. At 19, he started his own record label called Clown & Sunset that features artists like Nikita Quasim, Valentin Stip and Soul Keita. Now 21, Nicolas Jaar attends NYU and makes music in his spare time and plays shows during school breaks. We have been playing the label’s podcasts from time to time in the shop so we thought we’d share them.
