Notes On : Acne Studios Amina Patchwork Slides

The traditional Moroccan Babouche slipper bares the characteristics of a thin sole, pointed toe and, most distinctly, a heel that folds inward for convenient removal. The shoe came into abundance out of a necessity of the Muslim religion—The Holy Prophet regarded shoes as impure and commanded the faithful remove all dirt from their sandals prior to praying. In pragmatic style it became easier to remove shoes, and frequent prayer (and shoe removal) ensured babouche slippers became the preferred footwear of the Muslim faith.

Acne Studios has recast the babouche in a striking graphic patchwork of supple goat nappa. Their true beauty lies in how attractive they are off the foot as well as on, their neutrality complimenting any environment or attire with just the right amount of personality.
